Mexico's Communist Party names Marco Vinicio Dávila as Presidential Candidate

On Monday 29 January, the Communist Party of Mexico (PCM) announced its candidates for the Presidency, the Head of Government of Mexico City and the governorship of Morelos for the upcoming June elections.

During its National Political Conference, which took place over the weekend, PCM decided to present its candidates so that Mexican voters “have an option for radical change, to put an end to injustice and bring the workers to power. That is the option that the Communist Party of Mexico represents,” reads a statement published on social networks.

Party of Labour of Austria to hold its 6th party congress on February 10

On 10 February 2024, the Party of Labour of Austria (Partei der Arbeit Österreichs, PdA) will hold its 6th party congress. The congress will be held in Linz, the capital of Upper Austria, and the congress motto is: "Peace to the peoples! War on imperialism!". 

The Central Committee will present its reports on the past two-year period since the 5th party congress to the convening members and put them up for discussion. Subsequently, the focus for the coming period will be determined and important resolutions and motions will be passed, for example on the massive inflation in Austria or the war in Palestine. 

Ceasefire Now! Thousands protest across Israel calling for release of hostages and Netanyahu’s dismissal

Tens of Thousands protest Saturday night, January 27, in various demonstrations across Israel, demanding the release of hostages, immediate elections, against war in Gaza and the removal of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. 

Protests were held this in several locations across the country. Protests demanding elections were held at Habima Square in Tel Aviv, Horev Center in Haifa, Karkur Junction, Jerusalem, Be’er Sheva, Rehovot, Nes Tziona, Kafr Saba and Caesarea.

In a short span of 54 years, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin left an inerasable imprint for the advance of the global proletarian revolution.  He not only mastered the essence of the creative science of Marxism, but updated it to his contemporary times and led the Russian Revolution to victory leading to the establishment of the first socialist country in the world – the USSR.  

He enriched Marxism combating all forms of deviations and protected the revolutionary movement from derailment. He was a master tactician adopting correct and appropriate tactics for every twist and turn of the revolutionary movement.  

Argentine communist leader Víctor Kot passes away

On January 22, 2024, the Communist Party of Argentina (PCA) announced the death of its General Secretary Víctor Kot.

"We regret to report on the passing of the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Argentina, Victor Kot. An important political leader for the history of our workers' movement and a comrade who fought his whole life for socialism", a message of PCA stressed out.

Victor Kot began his militant political activity at an early age, as a student, becoming a leader of the Communist Youth Federation. 

Communist Party of Turkey condemns Grand National Assembly's approval of Sweden NATO bid

In a statement, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) stresses out:

"The Grand National Assembly of Turkey has made another shameful decision. The issue of Sweden's membership to NATO was discussed in the General Assembly of the Parliament today and approved with a majority of votes. As it is known, after the start of the war in Ukraine, NATO's attempt to gain new members in Northern Europe gained great momentum and the membership of Sweden and Finland was immediately on the agenda. As a result of an extremely fast process, Finland became a member of NATO and the Turkish Parliament was one of the parliaments that signed this historic decision in March 2023.

Free Haitham Dafallah! Sudanese Communist Party newspaper's editor abducted by paramilitary forces

In a statement, the Chairman of Al Midan Newspaper, organ of the Sudanese Communist Party, calls for the release of journalist Haitham Dafallah (photo):

"Mr. Haitham Dafallah, the managing director of the Sudanese Communist Party's Al Midan Newspaper, was detained yesterday from his home in the Al-Jaref West neighborhood east of the capital Khartoum. The detention was carried out by members of the Rapid Support Forces, who control the area. 

Russians gather in Red Square to honor V. I. Lenin on his 100th death anniversary

Despite the freezing temperatures, hundreds of Russian working men and women of every age gathered today, Sunday 21 January, in Moscow's Red Square in order to mark the 100th death anniversary of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. 

"I came here to honor the memory of Vladimir Lenin — our leader, the founder of the Soviet state," said 47-year-old Yulia, one of many admirers who gathered outside Lenin's mausoleum.

The European Parliament has never ceased being an endless source of anti-communist propaganda. Having adopted anti-communism as its official ideology, the EU and its institutions relentlessly continue the attempt to re-write history by promoting the deeply unscientific and unhistorical theory of "the two extremes".

More specifically, according to a recent statement by the Europarliament Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), the EU Parliament published a report on “European historical consciousness”, in which it “acknowledges the crimes committed by Nazi, fascist and communist totalitarian regimes as well as under colonialism...”! 

European Communist Action teleconference: Reject the parties of the EU, capital and ‘green’ exploitation

On 14 January 2024, the parties of the European Communist Action (ECA) held a teleconference under the theme: “Reject the parties of the EU, capital and ‘green’ exploitation. The hope for saving the environment is red”.

Kostas Papadakis, MEP and member of the CC of the KKE, delivered the introductory speech at the teleconference. The delegates of the CPs exchanged views on the issue of environmental protection and the so-called green growth. Thousands marched in honor of heroic communists Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht in Berlin

More than 3,000 people of all ages, workers, men and women, participated in a large rally in Berlin, commemorating the 105th anniversary of the murder of heroic communist revolutionaries Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht.

Luxemburg and Liebknecht were brutally murdered on January 15th, 1919 by  paramilitary troops of the social democratic government and the German bourgeoisie shortly after the violent suppression of the Berlin workers' revolution.

Greece: New mobilizations against the presence of US-NATO ships in the country

People’s protests against the escalation of the presence of US-NATO ships and troops in Greece continue. Greece’s ND government, together with its NATO allies, is involving the country more and more deeply in the dangerous imperialist plans and wars against the peoples of the region.

On Saturday 13^th January in Thessaloniki, the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) organized a rally against the presence of NATO ships of the US, Germany and G. Britain with the slogan: “Thessaloniki is a port of the peoples, not a launching pad for the imperialists”.

KKE condemns US-British air strikes in Yemen

In a statement following the U.S- British air strikes against Houthis in Yemen, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) warns about the risks of a generalized war. More specifically, the statement (here in Greek) reads:

Saint Joseph: Anti-communists in Georgia run amok over Stalin icon in Tbilisi Cathedral

Even as an icon, Joseph Stalin causes panic to all kinds of anti-communists everywhere in the world. Here is an interesting story coming Tbilisi, Georgia:  Local authorities are investigating the defacing of a recently-installed icon in Tbilisi's main cathedral depicting the legendary Soviet leader.

An unknown culprit splashed paint on Tuesday on the icon, which has been displayed in Tbilisi's Holy Trinity Cathedral for several months, Georgia’s Interpress news agency reported. Footage on social media showed the icon defaced with blue paint. 

Israel: Communist lawmaker Ofer Cassif faces possible expulsion from Knesset

Seventy Knesset members signed a motion on Monday to support the expulsion of lawmaker Ofer Cassif (Hadash) from the Knesset over his support of South Africa’s petition against the Israeli government at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Cassif announced on Sunday that he would be joining the lawsuit against the war in Gaza in the Hague. More specifically, in his announcement, he claimed:

Farewell to veteran Danish communist Anton Nielsen

Numerous friends, comrades and workers paid farewell to veteran Danish communist Anton Nielsen who died at the age of 84. The civil funeral took place on January 6 at the Construction Workers' Union (BJMF) in Copenhagen.  

The memorial event was attended, among others, by members of the KKE and KNE branches in Denmark.

Anton Nielsen, a bricklayer by profession, was a lifelong committed communist and anti-imperialist, President of the anti-fascist group Horserød-Stutthof Foreningen, member of the FIR.

Indignation and total rejection has been registered in the last hours in the ranks of the Communist Party of Venezuela after President Nicolás Maduro confirmed his participation in the judicial assault on the PCV on January 4 and declared -without any proof- that the legitimate leadership, elected by the XVI National Congress, had "surrendered" to "corruption" and "imperialism".

“Against the background of the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people by the Israeli state, the tangible dangers of a generalization of the conflict throughout the Middle East, the massacre in Ukraine and NATO’s arrangements regarding Greece–Türkiye relations, the Mitsotakis–Blinken meeting aims at deepening Greece’s involvement in the dangerous US-NATO plans and interventions in the region.
