Greeks pay tribute to the heroic 1973 Athens Polytechnic Uprising (PHOTOS)

Thousands of people of every age gathered today at the Athens Polytechnic in order to honour the heroic uprising of 1973 against the military dictatorship. 

The commemoration events which began on Friday will culminate on Sunday 17 November with the annual large anti-imperialist rally towards the U.S. embassy in downtown Athens. 

On the occasion of the Polytechnic uprsing anniversary, a statement by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) points out that "the slogans of the Polytechnic remain timely in the struggle aganst the policy that leads the people to poverty, unemployment, insecurity, against the implication of Greece in the imperialist plans of NATO-USA-EU, against repression and authoritarianism". 

In Erdogan's Turkey 18 million people are living below poverty line

While the world's media are busy covering Tayyip Erdogan's visit in the United States, a report issued by the General Workers Union exposes the harsh reality of the deepening of social inequalities in Turkey. 

According to a report titled "Income Inequality and Poverty in Turkey", the number of poor people in Turkey is 16 million, while 18 million people are living below poverty line. 

As the report notes, the working pverty in the country has increased by 11% in one year, while the capitalist crisis has created more than 1 million newly unemployed. 

"The EU is the flag-bearer of anti-communism and history's distortion" — KKE MEPs

In a statement published in Rizospastis, the Communist Party of Greece group in the European Parliament denounces another anti-communist event organized at the EU Parliament's Plenary for the Berlin Wall fall anniversary, with the major speaker being the President of the German Parliament (Bundestag) Wolfgang Schäuble. 

The statement reads: "The anti-communist fiesta organized for the Berlin Wall fall, with a speech by Schauble at the Plenary of the EU Parliament in Brussels, confirms the role of the EU as a "standard-bearer" of anti-communist and history's distortion. Once again, the imperialists distort history and the truth. The Wall was the result of the intervention and aggression of the imperialists, of the continuous subversion against the German Democratic Republic (GDR). 

IMPORTANT NOTICE — TWITTER SUSPENDED “IN DEFENSE OF COMMUNISM” ACCOUNT

Without any prior warning or justification, the social media platform TWITTER proceeded to the suspension of the "In Defense of Communism" account (twitter.com/id_communism) on Thursday 14 November 2019. 

The account, which had 10,500 followers, never violated any of the terms and conditions of TWITTER and was never engaged into any exchange of hate messaging or any kind of offensive behaviour against other accounts. 

Israeli communists condemn air strikes against Gaza and Damascus - الشيوعي والجبهة يدينان العدوان الإسرائيلي الإجرامي على غزة ودمشق

The Communist Party of Israel and the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Al-jabha/Hadash) unequivocally condemn Israel's criminal acts of aggression against both Damascus and Gaza, the latter of which were initiated by the Israeli military beginning at dawn on Tuesday, November 12, resulting in 5 deaths. 

The CPI and Al-jabha/Hadash counsel against the Israel's resumption of targeted assassinations aimed at escalating the situation, as was made so clear today in the statements released by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli military, and the head of the Israel Security Agency ("Shin Bet").

Greek riot police storms Athens University of Economics, suspends academic sanctuary

In a statement issued on Monday, the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) denounces the violation of the academic sanctuary by police forces which stormed the Athens University of Economics (ASOEE) and fired tear gas against demonstrating students. 

Greek riot police forces entered the premises of the university on Monday in order to remove students who were protesting against the decision of the institute's senate to shut down the university for a week. During the raid, police fired tear gas and firecrackers to disperse the students.

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) strongly condemns the US-inspired coup in Bolivia

In a statement published on 902 portal, the Press Bureau of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) condemns the U.S-inspired coup in Bolivia and calls for international solidarity towards the people of Bolivia and Latin America.

KKE slams Greek Defense Minister's abhorrent and provocative remarks

In a statement regarding the declarations of Minister of National Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos, who on Thursday, inaugurating the Conference on Ground Forces at the Evelpidon Military School, reassured the commander of the United States Army Europe, Lieutenant-General Chr. Cuba denounces coup attempt in Bolivia

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Sunday condemned the coup d'état perpetrated against his Bolivian counterpart, Evo Morales, an action that has been described as violent and cowardly.

On his Twitter account, the Cuban president called on the international community to mobilize 'for Evo's life and freedom'.

'The right wing with a violent and cowardly coup d'état is attacking democracy in #Bolivia. Our strong condemnation of the coup d'état and our solidarity with the brother president @evoespueblo. The world must mobilize for Evo's life and freedom. #EvoNoEstasSolo #SomosCuba,' the Cuban head of State twitted.

The Berlin Wall: Exposing the lies of imperialism

It was 30 years ago, on 9 November 1989, when the destruction of the Berlin Wall began, marking the overthrow of the socialist power in the German Democratic Republic and the restoration of capitalism. 

Since then, the 9th of November consists a milestone for imperialists who organize various fiestas about the "fall of the wall" and the "reunification of Germany". 

The 30th anniversary of the Berlin Wall fall coincides with the intensification of the European Union's anti-communist campaign which includes the hideous and unhistorical equation of communism with nazism. Last September, the EU Parliament adopted an utterly despicable resolution, full of anti-communist slanders, that violently distorts history. 

Imperialist criminal Ronald Reagan returns to Berlin — this time as a statue

The archimperialist called Ronald Reagan, an idol of the world's neoliberals and anti-communists during the 1980s, returns to Berlin — this time not as the leader of American imperialism, but as a 7-foot tall bronze statue placed atop of the U.S. Embassy.

As the Associated Press reports, the larger-than-life statue is being installed atop the embassy’s terrace, at eye-level with the landmark Brandenburg Gate in downtown Berlin. The statue will be unveiled during an official ceremony on Saturday 9 November, with the guest of honor being the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. 

Russia: Communists paid tribute to the 102nd anniversary of the October Revolution

The 102nd anniversary of the 1917 Great October Socialist Revolution was honoured by thousands of communists across Russia, during events organized by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) and the Russian Communist Workers' Party of Russia - CP of the Soviet Union (RCWP-CPSU). 

In Moscow, the CPRF organized a gathering and a rally where the major speaker was the President of the Party's Central Committee Gennady Zyuganov.

On October 17, Yerzhan Yelshibaev, the leader of the unemployed movement of Zhanaozen and the Mangystau region, in Kazakhstan, was sentenced to five years in a fabricated case and arrested in March of this year in a fabricated case about an attack on a passerby, which happened several years ago. 

During the trial, the victim and witnesses did not recognize him as an attacker and refused claims, however, the judge decided to send the famous public figure to jail.

Spain Elections: Vote for PCTE, the strongest communist candidacy! (+Video)

On the occasion of November 10 general elections in Spain, the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) issued an informational statement regarding its electoral campaign. 

PCTE is the strongest communist candidacy in these elections, given the fact that no other list with the hammer and sickle will participate in more constituencies. The Party's electoral program has been published in various idioms, including Castellano and Catalan.

The Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) is running for the elections on November 10 under the slogan “Choose what is necessary. For a country for the working class”. In  this  context  of  the  failure  of  social-democracy,  the  participation  of  our  Party  in  the new elections will be greater than in the previous call of April. 

Anti-Imperialist Solidarity Conference: "People are rising up against savage capitalism"

A Solidarity Meeting for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, that took place in Havana over the weekend, with over 1,200 participants condemned the US economic, financial and trade blockade against Cuba and specially the harsh hostility of the Trump administration.

Leaders of left-wing organizations, progressive movements, labor unions, youth and students federations, intellectuals and academics from 90 nations attended the huge gathering. 

Brussels: Event against EU anti-communism to be organized by KNE on November 9-11

With a three-day event, which will take place in Brussels from 9 to 11 November, the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) gives a powerful response to the European Union's anti-communist resolutions and fiestas. 

According to Rizospastis, the program includes visits in a Nazi concentration camp, walks in places of historical significance in Brussels, as well as an event in the European Parliament.

Iraqi Communist Party calls for the resignation of the government and early elections

Following the recent mass demonstrations in Iraq and their violent suppression by the government's security forces, the Central Committee of the Iraqi Communist Party issued a statement asking for the resignation of the government and the call for snap elections.

KKE: Question on the violent suppression of the mass popular demonstrations in Chile

The violent suppression against the mass – militant popular demonstrations and strikes in Chile by the Pinera government, “EU partner”, which have caused the death of 18 demonstrators, was condemned by the European Parliament Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) with a Question by the MEP of the Party, Lefteris Nikolaou–Alavanos towards the European Commission.

More than a third of U.S. millennials approve of communism-socialism

Despite the tones of anti-communist lies and history's falsification, which was strengthened after the counterrevolutionary events in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, young Americans "don't buy the fairytale" anymore. 

28 October - "Oxi Day" anniversary: Statement by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE)

On the occasion of the 28th October 1940 (OXI day) anniversary in Greece, which marks the rejection the Greek people of Benito Mussolini's ultimatum and the beginning of the Greco-Italian War, the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a statement, originally published on 902 portal.

Solidarity with “Rabochaya Gazeta” — Appeal by the Communist Party of Ukraine

In statement the CC of the Communist Party of Ukraine (KPU) appeals for broad support and solidarity towards the staff of the Party's newspaper “Rabochaya Gazeta” (“Workers’ Newspaper”) the circulation of which has been banned after a decision Kyiv District Court.
