Greek Defense Minister says children with autism can be trained for military attacks!

In a shameful, as well as utterly provocative statement, Greece's Defense Minister Nikos Dendias proposed that the Greek Armed Forces could train and employ children on the autism spectrum in skills suitable for military defense, such as image recognition required in AI systems and drones with the aim to identify targets.

Speaking at the Rotary Club of Athens last week, Mr Dendias said that the Defense Ministry intends to train children on the autism spectrum in skills suitable for military defense, such as image recognition required in artificial intelligence systems and drones. Furthermore, he mentioned the example of Israel which, as he said, “has special units for this”.

KKE denounces the new Greece-US military agreement

In a press release on the amendment of the “Greece–US defence agreement” and the statements of Ministers of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias and Anthony Blinken in Washington DC, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stresses the following:

“The so-called defence —but in reality extremely aggressive— agreement between Greece and the USA constitutes a dangerous development that further entangles our country in the US and NATO war plans in the wider region. Besides, the reference of the US Secretary of State to Greece's contribution to the war in Afghanistan foreshadows many new cases like Afghanistan, with the active participation of Greece.

KKE: Statement on Cavusoglu-Dendias meeting in Ankara

On Thursday 15 April, the Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Greece, Mevlut Çavuşoğlu and Nikos Dendias respectively, hold a meeting in Ankara where they discussed major issues concerning the relations between the two countries.

In a statement about the meeting, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) points out:

Our people cannot and should not become complacent about the meeting of Foreign Minister N. Dendias with President Erdoğan and Foreign Minister M. Çavuşoğlu in Ankara, following the “exploratory talks” between the two NATO allies.
