#MayDay: From Havana to Istanbul, millions of workers honored the 1st of May (Photos)

Millions of working class people, from Cuba to Turkey and from Japan to the United States, gathered in the streets to honor the 1st of May, the International Workers' Day, 132 years since the slaughter of the workers in Chicago:

Havana, Cuba

Following a tradition of the last decades, the largest and most impressive May Day rally is organized in the Cuban capital, with millions of people participating in the march across Havana, gathering at the city's Plaza de la Revolucion. 

#MayDay in Greece: Thousands joined PAME strike demonstrations across the country

Under the slogan "Against exploitation and the Imperialist war for the people's final victory", the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) organized militant demonstrations in Athens, Thessaloniki and other major cities on the occasion of the Workers' May Day.

In Athens, a large crowd gathered at Syntagma Square, in front of the Parliament building, sending a militant message of struggle against the continuous antipeople-antiworkers measures of the SYRIZA-ANEL government, as well as against the imperialist wars and Greece's participation in NATO-EU's plans.

World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU): Message for the 1st of May 2018

The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) in the name of its more than 92 million affiliates all over the world salutes, on the occasion of this great day, all the workers who live, work and struggle in every corner of the world. May Day was, is and will be a beacon for the struggles of yesterday and tomorrow despite our enemies’ efforts. May Day has to be a message of resistance against bourgeoisie, imperialists and their international alliances’ policies.

At the same time, the workers’ blood which was shed in Chicago on 1886 reminds us of our duty today; it reminds us that nothing is given for free; every right or freedom that was conquered by our class has been won through sacrifices, conflicts and organized struggles.

1st May 2018: PAME calls Greek and Foreign workers to participate in mobilizations

In a statement regarding the 1st of May 2018, the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) calls Greek and Foreign workers to participate actively in the strike mobilizations that will take place throughout the country.

May 1^st is strike, day of the world working class, inspection of our forces and a springboard of new struggles. We honor our dead, Chicago in 1886, the cigarette workers of May 36, the two hundreds of Kessariani of the 1st May 44. We honor all those who gave their lives to have rights at work and in life, with salaries that meet our needs, fixed daily time work, leisure, social security, to live in a world without exploitation, in a world without wars, refugees.
