Veteran Dutch communist Wil van der Klift passes away

The Central Committee of the New Communist Party of the Netherlands (NCPN) has issued the following statement in memory of comrade Wil van der Klift (15 November 1942 – 19 January 2025), who passed away on 19 January:

On 19 January, comrade Wil (Willy Ernst Karl) van der Klift, former member of the NCPN Political Bureau and Central Committee, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Manifest and international secretary, passed away. With his insights, humour and tireless efforts, Wil fought for a better world. He made an indispensable contribution to building the communist movement in the Netherlands.

KKE comment on Trump's inauguration

In a comment (here in Greek) regarding Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th U.S President, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) points out the following:

“The confrontation within the U.S ruling class and circles, which led to the new Trump presidency, has to do mainly with the terms, conditions and alliances through which the US will maintain its primacy in the global imperialist system against its competitors, especially China.

European Parliament prohibits the organization of exhibition for Cuba's internationalist solidarity!

In an utterly shameful and unjustifiable decision, the European Parliament prohibits the organization of the an exhibition dedicated to the internationalist solidarity of Cuba's medical brigades. 
 
More specifically, the Europarliament Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) strongly denounces the decision of the European Parliament not to grant permission for the organization of an exhibition titled “Cuba and the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigades: an example of internationalist solidarity”.

KKE: In a world on fire, the people must become the protagonists of developments

The first event of the year, the interruption of the flow of Russian gas to the EU via Ukraine, is another episode in the ongoing energy war. “The government is not worried,” the bourgeois staffs keep repeating, while at the same time they talk about “a possible increase in energy prices” and “a blow to the EU’s competitiveness”.

What they mean is that energy poverty and more expensive goods will require people to dig deep into their pockets again.

The KKE expresses solidarity with the communists and the people of Syria

During a speech at a party event in the city of Larisa on Sunday afternoon, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas, referred to the ongoing developments in Syria and the capture of Damascus by the Syrian "opposition forces". 

More specifically, Koutsoumbas said:

"In Syria, another war zone has been ignited on the global chessboard of imperialist competitions. There is another intervention that portends new sufferings for the people of Syria and the peoples of the region, new waves of refugees, possibly new border changes.

European Communist Meeting held in Brussels: Speech by KKE General Secretary Koutsoumbas

On the initiative of the MEPs of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), the European Communist Meeting was successfully held in Brussels on 2 December on the theme “The EU of imperialist wars, capitalist exploitation and anti-communism and Lenin’s timely work on the Slogan for a United States of Europe”.

The introductory speech was given by the GS of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas. Kostas Papadakis, member of the CC and MEP of the KKE, opened the event and Lefteris Nikolaou – Alavanos, MEP of the KKE, gave the closing speech. Giorgos Marinos, member of the PB of the CC of the KKE, and Eliseos Vagenas, member of the CC and head of the International Relations Section of the KKE, also attended the meeting.

KKE leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

In a statement (here in Greek) concerning the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which was established by the UN in 1977, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas notes:

"We join our voices with the voice of the people of Palestine, with the voices of the peoples of the whole world who demand: The genocide that the state of Israel, the war criminal Netanyahu who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, is carrying out in the Gaza Strip with the support of the US, NATO and the EU, must stop here and now.

NATO chief Rutte is unwelcome in Turkey and Greece

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is currently on a visit in Turkey (25/11) where he will hold meetings with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Defense Minister Yasar Guler.

Following his visit to Ankara, he is expected to travel to Athens on Tuesday for discussions with Greek officials, including Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. This marks Rutte’s first visit to both countries in his new role as NATO Secretary General.

Greek communists stage militant protest against anti-communist event dedicated to "Holodomor"

"In Socialism the peoples of Russia & Ukraine were living in peace"
With a dynamic, yet peaceful, protest held on Saturday 23 November in Mandra, a town west of Athens, members of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its youth wing, KNE, condemned the unhistorical and anti-communist event in commemoration of the so-called "Holodomor". 

The event titled "Memorial event for the innocent victims of the Stalinist regime-instigated Genocide, HOLODOMOR 1932-1933" was organized by the Municipality of Mandra in collaboration with the Embassy of Ukraine in Greece and the Hellenic-Ukrainian Chamber.

Koutsoumbas: On the escalation of the imperialist war between NATO and Russia — The Greek government should stop supporting the Zelensky regime

In a statement (22/11) concerning the escalation of the imperialist war between NATO and Russia in Ukraine, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, points out:

“Following the use of American and British weapons against Russia by the Zelensky regime and the modification of Russia’s nuclear doctrine by Putin and their related statements, it is now obvious that there is a major escalation of the imperialist war. The risk of an immediate generalization is more than visible.

KKE delegation meets Hadash MP Ofer Cassif

A delegation from the International Relations Section of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) met with Ofer Cassif, MP of the Hadash Joint List in Israeli Parliament (Knesset) and member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Israel (Maki), during his brief stay in Athens.

It is reminded that Ofer Cassif is being persecuted in Israel because he publicly condemns Netanyahu government's anti-people policy, opposes the genocide of the Palestinian people and the occupation, as well as the attacks against the other peoples of the region.

KKE: US-NATO decision to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles against Russia is 'a dangerous escalation'
 
"The decision made by the United States and other NATO member-states to allow the Zelensky regime to use long-range missiles within Russian territory constitutes an extremely dangerous escalation and is another step towards a generalisation and further expansion of the NATO-Russia war already underway," a statement issued by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) on Monday said.

Thousands commemorated the 51st anniversary of the Polytechnic Uprising in Athens

The militant commemoration of the 51st anniversary of the 1973 Polytechnic Uprising against the US-backed junta culminated once again this year with the mass anti-imperialist march to the US Embassy in Athens on Sunday 17 November and similar events all over the country.

Thousands of people participated in the bloc of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) expressing their solidarity with the people of Palestine and demanded that the massacre in Gaza and Greece’s involvement in imperialist plans be stopped.

"You Shall Not Pass!": Greek communists blocked trucks carrying ammunition to Ukraine

They did it once again! Members of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its Communist Youth, KNE, in the town of Tyrnavos, in Thessaly region, set up a blockade on six trucks carrying ammunition to Ukraine.  

As 902.gr portal reported, the Communists blocked the road by staying firmly in front of the trucks with banners and flags thus forcing them to stop and retreat.

KKE: We draw lessons and inspiration from the history of the labour and communist movement

In a climate of enthusiasm, the opening of the exhibition of Historical - Archival Material of the Attica Party Organization of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), entitled “The liberating - revolutionary 1944”, took place on Saturday 2 November.

The exhibition deals with the heroic action of the KKE under the conditions of the fascist occupation and during the liberation of Greece in 1944 by the partisan People’s Liberation Army (ELAS), which was led by the KKE, as well as with the action of the Party in conditions of revolutionary situation that was formed in the country at that time and in the subsequent conditions of the British imperialist intervention.

El KKE expresa su solidaridad con el pueblo español con motivo de las desastrosas inundaciones en Valencia

En un comunicado publicado el miércoles 30 de Octubre, la Oficina de Prensa del Partido Comunista de Grecia (KKE) expresa su solidaridad con el pueblo de España, con motivo de las devastadoras inundaciones en Valencia que han dejado más de 95 muertos y numerosos desaparecidos. El comunicado dice: 

"El KKE expresa su solidaridad con el pueblo de España, especialmente con los residentes en Valencia, por la trágica pérdida de al menos 64 personas y los importantes daños a viviendas e infraestructuras en la región. Expresamos nuestro más sentido pésame a las familias de quienes perdieron la vida en este gran desastre.

Memorials dedicated to communist guerrillas unveiled by the KKE in northern Greece

With two events held in the northern provinces of Florina and Kastoria on Sunday 27 October, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) unveiled two new memorials dedicated to the struggle of the Democratic Army of Greece, the communist-backed guerrilla army which fought against the bourgeois forces and their imperialist allies during the 1946-1949 Civil War.

Both events were attended by the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas
