British Communist Party: Stop the war in Ukraine — Britain out of NATO!

“A peace settlement is long overdue in Ukraine, so it’s time to stop the war and start the peace!”, Kevan Nelson declared on Tuesday evening (18 February 2025) following that day’s talks between the US and Russian governments,

“But it’s a bit rich for British and EU politicians to complain about their own exclusion from the Riyadh summit, when they have spent two years fueling the conflict instead of trying to initiate a peace process”, the Communist Party of Britain’s International Secretary told the CP Political Committee.

On imperialism and the current situation in the world

By Andreas Sörensen

The development in the world the past year has sharpened the contradictions inherent within the imperialist system and has thus also accentuated the need for a deepened analysis of the mechanisms that push the development forward.

To be able to do this, this presentation will focus on the analysis presented by Lenin in his pamphlet Imperialism as the Highest Stage of Capitalism. Here, he explored the mechanisms that decided and decide the development of international capitalism. In the course of this article, the mechanisms and features that he identified will be discussed, and light will be shed on problematic approaches that readers take to Lenin.

KKE calls for mass condemnation of the Israeli state's crimes in Lebanon

In a statement, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) denounces the recent murderous military attack of the Israeli state in southern Lebanon and calls for a mass popular condemnation of these crimes. More specifically, the statement (here in Greek) reads:

"The KKE calls for mass popular condemnation of the new crimes committed by the terrorist state of Israel in Lebanon, which have so far resulted in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries. The attacks in Lebanon, combined with the ongoing operations in Gaza and the West Bank of Palestine, constitute an escalation of the war in the Middle East with unpredictable dimensions in which the peoples will be the victims.

KKE rejects EU Parliament's despicable resolution on financial and military support to Ukraine

In a despicable resolution adopted by the European Parliament on 19 September 2024, EU countries are requested to lift current restrictions hindering Ukraine from using Western weapons systems against military targets in Russia. The text, adopted with 425 votes in favor, 131 against and 63 abstentions, states that without lifting current restrictions, Ukraine cannot fully exercise its "right to self-defense " and remains exposed to attacks on its population and infrastructure.

The European Parliament Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) voted against the resolution, stating the following:

Estonia, the country where Nazi collaborators are being honored with the blessings of the EU

Estonia is the small Baltic country  where 275,000 Soviet soldiers and partisans gave their own lives in order to liberate it from the Nazi yoke. Nonetheless, instead of honoring them, the Estonian authorities glorify the collaborators of the Nazis who fought against the Soviet Red Army in the Second World War.

Recently, in the city of Jõhvi, the local authorities unveiled a new memorial dedicated to an Estonian Nazi. His name was Georg Sooden and he was a captain of the 20th Estonian Waffen-SS Division which fought alongside the Nazis against the Soviet Union. Sooden was killed during a battle with the Red Army in the Blue Hills of Tannenberg line in July 1944.

Communist Initiative of Cyprus: 50 years since the twin imperialist crime of 1974

Statement (here in Greek) by the Communist Initiative of Cyprus (CIC) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary since the July 1974 coup d'etat, organized by the Athens' Junta, against the Cypriot government and the subsequent bloody Turkish military invasion which led to the partition of the island:

"50 years have passed since the twin imperialist crime of 1974, but its wounds remain open. Cyprus and its people are still divided because of the Turkish occupation and the ongoing NATO crime. The treasonous coup and the Turkish invasion in July 1974 did not come out of the blue.

KKE's leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas on the far right and the “New Popular Front” in France

On 19th June in an interview with the radio station “Real FM”, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the CC of the KKE, referred to the results of the recent European elections held in Greece and the rest of the EU.

Specifically for Greece, he noted that “there has been another significant electoral rise of the KKE, starting from the 2019 European elections (5.35%), the 2023 parliamentary elections of May (7.2%) and June (7.7%), and now the European elections (9.25%). This confirms that positive processes are taking place in society,in the struggles and the elections of the mass movement. I would say that a current disputing the dominant policy, i.e. that of the Commission, the EU and the New Democracy government, is being stabilized and strengthened; and, of course, this current is mainly expressed by the increase in the prestige of the KKE and in the rallying of broader forces around it.”

European Elections: Significant rise of the KKE sends message of hope throughout Europe

Electoral rally of the KKE in Athens, 5 June 2024
By Nikos Mottas

With 9.30% and more than 350,000 votes, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) marks a very significant electoral rise in June 9 European Elections, thus sending a resounding positive message, not only for the country's working class and popular strata, but also throughout Europe.

While far-right, ultra-conservative and racist political forces gain ground in EU countries (France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, etc), the rise of the KKE's electoral influence is a beacon of hope for Europe's peoples.

The European Elections and the role of Communists

 By Nikos Mottas

“The United States of Europe, under capitalism, is either impossible or reactionary”, Lenin wrote back in 1915.

The course of history repeatedly proved the correctness of his timeless analysis. Since its formation, the European Union – formerly ECC – has been a transnational economic, political and military alliance of imperialist characteristics, aimed at serving the interests of monopoly groups at the expense of the working class.

European elections 2024 — Greece: The vote for the KKE sends an anti-imperialist and anti-war message

European elections in Greece: The vote for the KKE sends an anti-imperialist and anti-war message

An important difference in the election campaign, which the KKE is conducting to enlighten the workers, is the one concerning international developments, the involvement of the EU and Greece in the imperialist war in Ukraine, as well as in the massacre of the people of Palestine.

All the bourgeois political parties are silencing the developments on the war fronts and hiding the causes of the conflicts, the responsibilities of the EU, as well as of the USA and NATO.
