The Commission for External Relations of the Central Commitee of the Communist Party of Vietnam respectfully announces that, οn August 3, in Hanoi the capital of Viet Nam, the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam convened to elect the personnel nominated by the Politbureau to be the General Secretary of the 13th Central Committee.

KKE expresses condolences for the death of the GS of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyễn Phú Trọng

Following the death of Nguyễn Phú Trọng, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) sent a message of condolences to the fraternal Communist Party of Vietnam.  The message (here in Greek) reads:

"Dear comrades,

We are saddened to learn of the loss of comrade Nguyễn Phú Trọng, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam for the past 13 years, who passed away on July 19, 2024.

Communist Party of Vietnam's General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng dies at 80

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyễn Phú Trọng,  passed away on Friday at 1.38pm. He was 80 years old.

In an announcement issued by the Expert Council for the Health Protection of Central-level Officials, the Party chief had been under the intensive care of leading medical experts and doctors and was with his family. He passed away due to age-related illness at Central Military Hospital 108 in Hà Nội.

Communist Party of Vietnam and KKE reaffirm long-standing fraternal relations

A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by Politburo member Phan Dinh Trac, paid a visit to the headquarters of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in Athens, 902 portal reported today.

Phan Dinh Trac, accompanied by the Ambassador of Vietnam in Greece, Le Hong Truong, was welcomed by the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas and Giorgos Marinos, member of the KKE's Political Bureau.

Vietnam's Vice President visits KKE headquarters in Athens

Dimitris Koutsoumbas, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), met on Monday with the Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and member of the CC of the Communist Party of Vietnam Vo Thi Anh Xuan. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the KKE in Perissos, Athens.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan is on a visit to Greece, as the head of a multi-member delegation consisting by the president of the Women's Union, the deputy ministers of Foreign Affairs, Labour and Social Affairs, Planning and Investments, Industry and Trade, as well as other governmental officials. From the side of the KKE the meeting was also attended by Giorgos Marinos, Politburo member, MEP Lefteris Nikolaou-Alavanos and Christina Skaloumpaka, president of the Greek Women's Federation. The Ambassador of Vietnam in Greece Le Hong Truong also participated in the meeting.

Greek Viet Minh hero Kostas Sarantidis dies at 94

Kostas Sarantidis, also known by the name Nguyễn Văn Lập, the legendary man who fighted alongside the people of Vietnam against colonialism, has died aged 94.

Born in Thessaloniki in 1927, the son of Asia Minor refugees, Kostas was arrested during the Axis occupation of Greece and sent on foot to Nazi forced labour camps in Germany. 

However, he managed to escape near Vienna and stole a military uniform which he used to disguise himself as a German until the end of the war.

Nguyen Phu Trong re-elected as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam

Nguyen Phu Trong has been re-elected as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee in the 13th tenure at the first plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee.

The first plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee also elected an 18-member Politburo in Hanoi on January 31.

The 13th Party Central Committee’s Secretariat includes some Politburo members and five others elected at the first plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee.

Cuba and Vietnam celebrate 60 years of a genuine friendship

Shortly after the successful revolution, on December 2, 1960, the Republic of Cuba, under the leadership of Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro, became the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish full diplomatic relations with the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

This week, Cuban and Vietnamese senior leaders celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which they described as exemplary.

Vietnam's former Communist Party leader Do Muoi dies at 101

Former General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Do Muoi, who worked against the French colonial government and became a committed communist, has died at age of 101.
The government said in an announcement posted on its website that Muoi died late on Monday night at the National Military Hospital 108 after battling a serious illness despite efforts by Vietnamese and foreign doctors to treat him.

The 18th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) to be held in Hanoi, 28-30 October 2016

The 18th of the International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) is scheduled to be held at Hanoi between 28-30 October, hosted by Communist Party of Vietnam. 
The theme of the meeting is: “Capitalist crisis and imperialist offensive - Strategy and tactics of the Communist and Workers’ Parties in the struggle for peace, workers’ and peoples’ rights, socialism.”
The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) will participate in the International Meeting with a delegation which includes Giorgos Marinos, member of the Political Bureau of the CC, Eliseos Vagenas, member of the CC and responsible of the Partry's International Relations Department and Danae Helmi, collaborator of the Int. Relations Department of the CC of KKE.

KKE's delegation paid respect to Ho Chi Minh and the heroic people of Vietnam

HANOI- A delegation of KKE, headed by the General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas, paid their respect to the historic leader of Vietnam and the country's Communist Party, Ho Chi Minh. Visiting the Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum in Hanoi, GS Koutsoumbas led a wreath in memory of the legendary Vietnamese communist. 

The delegation of the Communist Party of Greece had the opportunity to visit the simple wooden traditional apartment which was Ho Chi Minch's residence for years, as long as the Vietnamese leader had declined to stay in the adjacent colonial presidential mansion. Nearby to the apartment, it is the shelter where Ho Chi Minh and the cadres of Vietnam's Communist Party were working during the US imperialist intervention.

KKE delegation visiting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

A delegation of the Communist Party of Greece headed by General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas is visiting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, following an invitation by the GS of the CC of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Except from Secretary Koutsoumbas, the delegation is comprised by Dimitris Arvanitakis, member of the Political Bureau of the CC, Giannis Giokas, KKE MP and member of the CC and Giorgos Eltahir, member of the Editorial Board of 'Rizospastis'. 

During their stay in the country (8-15 July), the members of the KKE delegation will visit Hanoi and the city of Ho Chi Minh (formerly Saigon), where they will meet with the General Secretary of the CC of the CP of Vietnam, the head of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh city as well as other sections of the Central Commitee of the Party. Additionally, the KKE members will pay a visit to the Peace Committee of Vietnam, the Youth Organisation of Ho Chi Minh, the newspaper 'Nhân Dân' as well as to the Greek ambassador in Hanoi.
