Thirty years since the reorganization of the Communist Party of Mexico (PCM)

In a statement, the Communist Workers’ Platform USA expresses its congratulations to the Communist Party of Mexico (PCM) on the occasion of the Party's 30th reorganization anniversary:

Little more than thirty years have passed since the counterrevolutionary overthrow of workers’ power in the USSR. This historic tragedy confirmed the warning of J.V. Stalin: that it would result in “the blackest and most savage reaction in all capitalist countries”, a condition which we face today with the looming threat of nuclear confrontation and a generalized conflict between the two major imperialist blocs. The world communist movement facing the counterrevolution 1989-1991 was thus confronted with the ideological and political dominance of the counterrevolution—a crisis which continues to this day. To make matters worse, the Communist Party of Mexico had been dissolved a decade prior in 1981.

With the purpose of denouncing its political exclusion from the electoral process, a delegation of the Communist Party headed by Marco Vinicio Dávila, communist candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, and Ángel Chávez, candidate for Head of Government, staged a protest.

Communist Party of Mexico: No more confidence in the government of López Obrador!

In a recent statement, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Mexico refers to the deterioration of the living standards of the country's working class and underlines the necessity of an offensive against the rule of capital and the social democratic government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The statement reads:

At the beginning of the year, there was a sharp increase in the cost of living, which reached about 7%. In this situation, the 2022 wage increase did not have a significant effect, and there are still workers who have not yet received the wage change. This implied a higher cost for the workers, who were also affected by the loss of benefits and working conditions during the pandemic.

This has forced workers to cut back on consumption of some goods and services, or to work even longer hours to maintain their real incomes. Halfway through the year, inflation is considered by specialists to be uncontrollable, as it is currently around 7.5 per cent, but is expected to reach 10 per cent by the end of the year. In concrete terms, the basic food basket has shot up to 27% and this is taking its toll on the pockets of working families.
