Colombian Communist Party denounces assassination of party member Ludivia Galindez Jiménez

In a statement issued on 25 February 2024, the Colombian Communist Party (Partido Comunista Colombiano) denounces the assassination of Ludivia Galindez Jiménez, a militant member of the local party leadership in the region of Caquetá.

Jiménez was a staunch defender of human rights and president of the Association of Community Action Boards of the municipality of La Montañita, as well as a leading member of the Standing Committee for the Defense of Human Rights (CPDH). 

Communist Party of Mexico: Democratic capitalism is no solution for the Colombian, Latin American people

Commenting on the electoral victory of social democrat Gustavo Petro in Colombia, the Communist Party of Mexico (PCM) stresses out that “democratic capitalism” does not provide a solution to the problems of the Colombian people, nor for the people of Latin America.

In a statement, the PCM points out that, despite their electoral defeat, the most reactionary and criminal forces of the Colombian bourgeoisie are still owners of the capital and land.

Gustavo Petro, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and the fairytale of “left governments”

The same old fairytale of “left-progressive governments” is back in the news following the electoral victory of social democrat Gustavo Petro in Colombia, as well as the performance of leftist Jean-Luc Mélenchon in French parliamentary elections.

As it happened last December with Gabriel Boric' victory in Chile, a number of left-wing, opportunist forces in Greece and abroad celebrate the recent results, presenting them as a “triumph of the left” which can allegedly bring positive developments for the working people. 

¡Hasta la victoria siempre, Jesús Santrich!

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army (FARC-EP), today known as "Segunda Marquetalia", reported yesterday the assassination of Jesús Santrich, during a Colombian Army operation in Venezuela. 

Santrich was traveling by a truck in Venezuela when it was attacked by Colombian commandos. "The truck carrying the commander (Santrich) was attacked with rifle fire and grenades," the statement of Segunda Marquetalia said, adding that the Colombian commandos left in a helicopter following the attack.

KKE and PAME express solidarity with the people of Colombia

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) have expressed their solidarity with the working class and the people of Colombia who are mobilizing against the anti-popular policies of the conservative Duque government. 

In a statement issued on 12 May, the International Relations Section of the CC of the KKE points out:

KKE: Condemns U.S. aggression against Cuba, demands end to "barbaric blockade"

In a unilateral and arbitrary act, the U.S. government has included Cuba in the State Department list of countries which allegedly not cooperating fully against terrorism.

The groundless argument used by the U.S. government is the presence in Cuban territory of members of the delegation to peace talks of the National Liberation Army (ELN) of Colombia.

KKE condemns the new intervention attempt by mercenaries against Venezuela

In a statement the International Relations Section of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) condemns the new infiltration attempt by mercenaries against Venezuela. 

More specifically the statement, which was published in 902 portal, reads:

“The KKE condemns the new intervention attempt in Venezuela by paramilitary group of mercenaries based in Colombia whose aim, according to the statements of the paramilitry group's leader in social media, was to cause sabotages and murder members of the Venezuelan government. The group of mercenaries-murderers was countered by Venezuela’s security forces.

Condemn U.S. arrogant and criminal policy against Venezuela amidst Covid-19 pandemic

While the world is facing COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. government intensifies its arrogant and criminal policy against the people of Venezuela. FARC-EP rebels denounce the "betrayal of peace" by the state, continue armed struggle

"While there is a will to fight, there' ll be hope of winning". This is the title of the manifesto released by guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army (FARC-EP) who announced the continuation of the armed struggle against the bourgeois state. 

In a 32-minute video featuring Ivan Marquez, a leading figure of FARC, alongside Jesus Santrich and other ex-rebels, the colombian guerrillas denounced the "betrayal" of the 2016 peace agreement by the Colombian state. 

What is Colombia seeking in NATO?

Colombia will be the first Latin American country to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as a “global partner.”

The South American nation already has a strong United States military presence in its territory, supposedly with the objective of combating drug trafficking. KKE: Solidarity to FARC rebel Jesús Santrich and the political prisoners in Colombia

The International Relations Section of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a statement, expressing its solidarity to FARC rebel Jesús Santrich and the political prisoners in Colombia.

More specifically, the statement writes:

"The FARC political prisoners who are still detained in the prisons of Colombia have started a new hunger strike, in solidarity with Jesús Santrich, leader of the FARC and the political party that they created after the Havana agreements, who remains detained by the Colombian authorities. The unacceptable detention of Jesús Santrich was made at the request of the United States.

Manuel "Tirofijo" Marulanda: Colombia's legendary guerrilla leader remembered

Manuel Marulanda Velez, founder of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and its leader until his death, was a man firmly and decisively committed to the campesinos of Colombia and their liberation.

It is said that Marulanda was so thoroughly a man of the countryside that in his entire life he never set foot in the Colombian capital of Bogota.

He died of natural causes eight years ago today, March 26, 2008.

As is well-known, on Sunday 2 October, the peace agreement between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP) was put to a referendum. In the referendum, where only the 37% of the eligible voters participated, the agreement was rejected by a 50.2% vote.

The agreement was finalized after four years of negotiations that took place in Oslo and Havana and aimed at putting an end to the armed conflict which began in 1964, when FARC-CP was founded as a response to the attack of the bourgeois army against the rural population of the Marquetalia region (1). At the same time, it had been announced that talks will also be pursued with the country’s other significant guerrilla organization, the National Liberation Army (ELN).

After living in the jungle in FARC camps for about a decade, for the last four years Nariño has played a key role in the peace process in Havana, Cuba, that aims to transition Colombia out of the longstanding internal conflict and toward a new era of peace.
