A nationwide national strike throughout India has been scheduled on 8-9 January 2019, against the neoliberal, anti-worker policies of the BJP-led NDA government of Narendra Modi. The strike is organized by 10 Central Trade Unions (CTUs) and a number of independent worker's federations.

“In order to serve the interests of the multinational companies with Indian corporate, the present government is pursuing blatantly anti-people, anti-workers and anti-national policies at the cost of severely damaging the national economy and destroying its indigenous productive and manufacturing capabilities. The Rebirth of the Communist Party of Indonesia

The following essay deals with the resumption of the legal activity of the Communist Party of Indonesia after 50 years of prohibition. It is an adaptation and elaboration of Vladimir M. Soloveichik’s presentation, published on the Leningrad Internet TV and YouTube on 27 June 2016, in Russian language.

The article offers interesting information about the heroic and tragic history of the once largest non-ruling Communist Party in the world and expresses the optimism that the new generations of indonesian communists will continue the path of the struggle, joining the marxist-leninist movement for the materialization of the communist ideal.

Declassified documents expose US role in the 1965-66 massacre of millions of communists in Indonesia

Declassified files have exposed just how much the US knew about and supported the massacre of millions of Indonesians in the 1965 anti-communist purges.

The non-governmental National Security Archive research group published 39 documents on Tuesday, out of thousands of pages of newly declassified files from the US embassy in Jakarta. They cover the period from 1963-66, documenting official knowledge and approval of the army’s death-squad operations to wipe out the three million-strong Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI) and its supporters.

Up to three million people were rounded up across the country, executed and dumped in mass graves. The files show that the US provided the Indonesian army with lists of senior communist party officials, equipment and money during the massacres. The purges led to the overthrow of communist-backed nationalist president Sukarno and the 31-year dictatorship of General Suharto.

Philippines: The truth about Rodrigo Duterte's bourgeois government

By Ronalyn V. Olea / Source: Bulatlat.com
MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte’s tirades against the so-called oligarchs are turning out to be mere rhetoric as he pursues the same economic policies that favor the rich.
In a forum, Jan. 13, Rosario Bella Guzman, Ibon executive editor, noted that Duterte’s ten-point socioeconomic agenda and the upcoming Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 both aim to increase the profits of foreign corporations and local oligarchs at the expense of the welfare of the people and long-term economic development.
Guzman said the PDP is silent on free land redistribution. She noted that the economic managers of the Duterte administration blocked Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano’s proposal for a two-year moratorium on land-use conversion.

He promised a bloody campaign which will fill Manila Bay with the cadavers of drug pushers and criminals, and called on the people to apprehend known drug pushers everywhere, and even to use lethal force against the armed resistance of drug pushers.

Communist Party of India (Marxist): No Bases for US Armed Forces

Source: Solidnet.
The Modi government has taken the dangerous step of deepening military collaboration with the United States by agreeing to allow US armed forces to use base facilities in Indian naval and air force bases.
The US Defence Secretary and the Indian Defence Minister have announced an in principle agreement has been reached for a Logistics Exchange  Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA). This is just another name for the Logistic Support Agreement (LSA) that the United States enters into with military allies like Philippines, South Korea and Japan. Unlike what the Defence Minister says, refueling, maintenance and repair facilities for American ships and airplanes will require the  stationing of US armed forces personnel on Indian soil on a regular basis.
