Ástor García: "To deny the imperialist nature of Russia today is to deny reality"

The following speech was delivered by Ástor García, General Secretary of Communist party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) at the quadripartite meeting held on 8th of July 2022 in Athens:

Comrades,

We are holding this important meeting in an especially difficult moment for class struggle. The imperialist war being waged in Ukraine is the key element that determines all the other issues and, from our viewpoint, it is a turning point in the international scene with important outcomes in the domestic spheres of our countries.

Quadripartite meeting of Communist Parties of Greece, Spain, Mexico and Turkey to be held in Athens

A quadripartite meeting between the Communist Parties of Greece (KKE), Workers of Spain (PCTE), Mexico (PCM) and Turkey (TKP) is going to be held on Friday 8 July in Athens. 

The theme of the meeting, which will take place at the KKE Party headquarters in Perissos, is "We strengthen the workers-people's struggle against the imperialist war and capital's attack, for socialism". According to Rizospastis, all the four parties will be represented by their heads. More specifically, the participant comrades are:

OTAN no, bases fuera! Large, militant anti-NATO rally held in Madrid (VIDEO)

“No to NATO! No to the imperialist war” was the major slogan of the large anti-NATO rally held on Sunday 26th June in Madrid, a few days before the NATO Summit that will take place in the Spanish capital on 29-30 June.

The demonstration began with a gathering at Atocha station and later the protesters marched through central streets towards Plaza de Espana.

Members and supporters of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) participated in a militant joint bloc, shouting slogans in both Greek and Spanish, such as “OTAN no, Bases FUERA”, “In Greece and Spain the people demand NATO and bases to go away”, “Viva KKE! Viva PCTE!”, etc. The protesters also expressed their solidarity to the detained young communists, Mikhail and Aleksander Kononovich, who remain imprisoned in Ukraine. 

Communist Parties held anti-NATO event in Madrid

Communists from Spain, Greece and Turkey joined their voice against NATO and the imperialist war in a political event organized by the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) on Saturday 28 May in Madrid. In a fully packed hall at Centro Cultural El Madroño, under the slogan “Their Wars, Our Dead”, the participants denounced the criminal role of NATO and claimed the disengagement of their countries from the imperialist organization. 

 

Representatives of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) were invited and attended the event, delivering speeches on behalf of their parties. The KKE was represented by Giorgos Marinos, MP and member of the Political Bureau, while the TKP was represented by Ekin Sönmez, Central Committee member and responsible for international relations. 

Ástor García re-elected General Secretary of the PCTE

On November 13 and 14 were held the plenary sessions of the 2nd Congress of the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE), called the Centennial Congress as a tribute to the founding, in November 1921, of the Communist Party of Spain as the Spanish Section of the Communist International.

Throughout the two days of debates, the delegates debated and unanimously approved the Political and Accountability Report, which analyzed the tasks carried out by the Party since the previous Congress, held in November 2017, the proposal of reform of the Statute of the Party and the Political Resolution which establishes the main tasks of the PCTE until the next Congress. Seven short resolutions on different issues were also approved unanimously.

On the occasion of the recent despicable anti-communist resolution passed in the EU Parliament, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) Ástor García issued an open letter to the General Secretary of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) and Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez.

Great event organized by the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) in Madrid

This past Saturday, April 6, the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain held its debut in Madrid with a big presentation of the organization, under the slogan: Once again, the Communist Party. 

A meeting with international scope that took place in the auditorium of the Ateneo of Madrid bringing together more than 300 people, exceeding the capacity of the legendary cultural institution of Madrid. 

Spanish Elections 2019: The Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) will be present!

"On April 28th, there will be candidates of the PCTE.
Thanks for your support!"

The Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) has announced that it has managed to present candicacies to the Congress of Deputies in 29 provinces in spite of the restrictions imposed by the Central Government, which demanded the presentation of endorsements to be able to participate in the elections. 

The members of the Party and the Collectives of Young Communists took profit of this situation to make the communist project known for workers, students, pensioners, neighbours, relatives and friends. More than 30.000 people endorsed the new communist project in a bit more than 2 weeks.

IDC: According to your party's statement the dispute in the Parliament, between the People's Party (PP) and PSOE, consists the result of a competition between differents parts of the capital. Do you think that the big capital wants new anti-worker, anti-people reforms that a PSOE government under P. Sanchez premiership could implement easier than the previous government? If yes, could you briefly tell us what kind of reforms the new government is planning to implement?

SoL news portal interviewed Astor Garcia, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the People of Spain (PCPE), who was in Izmir, Turkey for the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution event by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP). soL: Wellcome to Izmir. How were the activities on the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution in your country and what were its repercussions?

Astor Garcia: We organized a number of activities in several cities in Spain on commemorating the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution. It started with the activity in Madrid on October 7 which aroused great interest among Party members, the Communist Youth Collective (CJC) and our sympathizers. The other activities are taking place in the regional capitals.

Communist Party of Turkey: Mass event dedicated to Socialism and the Republic organized in Izmir

TKP organised a mass activity in Izmir on Socialism and Republic.

The event of TKP, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution led by the Bolsheviks in 1917 and the 94th anniversary of Republic of Turkey’s foundation in 1923, attracted considerable attention despite rainfall with the attendance of thousands of TKP members and friends. 

The event, 'Socialism will suit very well to the "republic"', started with a performance on the October Revolution in 1917 and its achievements for humanity.

On Saturday 20^th May the PCPE (Partido Comunista de los Pueblos de Espana) organised in Madrid an internationalist anti-imperialist political event under the title “No water, no soil, no air to the imperialists”. The major speaker was the Secretary General of the CC of PCPE Astor Garcia, while a greeting message was also delivered by  Marina Gómez, Sec. General of the Collectives of Young Communists.

Representatives of the Communist Parties of Italy (Partito Comunista) and Turkey (TKP) attended the event while the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Mexico Pavel Cabrera sent a recorded greeting message. The KKE was represented by the member of the Political Bureau of the CC Giorgos Marinos and Lefteris Nikolaou.

“Ni tierra, ni mar, ni aire par los imperialistas”: Internationalist event by the PCPE in Madrid

"No land, no sea, no air to Imperialists".

An international event against the imperialist wars takes place on Saturday, May 20, at 6.00 pm in Madrid (Auditorio El Madroño, C/ Villardondiego, 36). The event, organised by the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE), will be attended by representatives of other communisty parties, including the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Italy Marco Rizzo and the member of the International Relations Bureau of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) Can Seven. 

The KKE will be represented by the member of the Political Bureau Giorgos Marinos and Lefteris Nikolaou, member of the International Relations department of the CC of the Party. 

The event will be addressed by the General Secretary of the PCPE Ástor García as well as Marina Gómez, Secretary General of the CJC (Colectivos de Jovenes Comunistas).
