In a statement concerning the results of the German Federal Elections, which were held on Sunday 23 February, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), points out the following:
"The outcome of the German elections was influenced by two crucial and mutually reinforcing factors: on the one hand, the intensification of international antagonisms that permeate the ruling class of Germany, fueling bourgeois forces that appear as ''Eurosceptics''; on the other hand, the disapproval of the government of the Social Democrats and Greens, who have burdened the German people with the burdens of recession and war involvement.
For the umpteenth time, it is proven that the Social Democratic and so-called progressive governments, which are also advertised in our country, are not an opponent, but the best sponsor of right-wing and reactionary far-right forces that are trying to exploit popular discontent.
After all, the Social Democratic Party of Germany has a "rich history" in dirty work on behalf of capital, either in grand coalition governments with the right-wing Christian Democrats or in cooperation with other parties, such as the fake "Greens".
The hope for the people of Germany and all of Europe lies in the transformation of the dissatisfaction with the EU and NATO into a radical anti-capitalist content and not its diffusion, or even worse, exploitation in the context of the competitions of the various imperialist alliances and sections of capital, as is the case today. That is why the rebirth and overall reconstruction of the labor and communist movement is urgent."
