Israeli communists denounce Trump's plan for Gaza: "It's a crime against humanity and a serious violation of international law"

The Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Hadash) and the Communist Party of Israel (CPI) rejected, Wednesday, Feb 5, calls for displacement of the Palestinian people and annexation of Gaza by the US or Israel.

In a communique they warned of their dangers and disastrous repercussions on the conflict arena, the countries of the region and the world, and which affirmed their adherence to the just and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the embodiment of the Palestinian state on the ground with East Jerusalem as its capital, in implementation of the principle of the two-state solution.

Hadash and CPI considered the forced displacement of Gaza residents a crime against humanity and a serious violation of international law, an attack on the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians, and a destabilizing factor in the region. They added that “the future of Gaza must be within the framework of the future Palestinian state and under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority, stressing that her country will continue to oppose settlements that violate international law and any desire to unilaterally annex the occupied West Bank.”

According to Hadash MK Aida Touma-Sliman, “Trump’s Imperialist plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza and take it under American occupation is a declaration of another criminal war on the Palestinian people of Gaza. The people of Gaza will stay on their land, and they will rebuild it.” According to Hadash MK Ofer Cassif, “Facing the notion of Arab deportation and exile — ‘transfer’ — we must stand up and say sharply and simply: It will be impossible because we will not allow it. Even if we must lie down under the wheels of trucks. Even if we must blow up the bridges. There will be no mass deportation by force, because we will not allow it to happen, internationally known author Amoz Oz wrote this statement in his 1990 Manifesto ‘On Democracy and Obedience’.” “Now is the time to follow his wisdom and humanity and unite under one calling: No transfer, no ethnic cleansing, yes to peace and a Palestinian State!”, he added.
