In a statement concerning the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Soviet Red Army in 1945, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, stresses out:
"The Holocaust of the Jews is a timeless reminder of the true face of the rotten capitalist exploitative system and the criminal nature of Nazism - fascism that it engenders.
In the Nazi concentration camps, with the emblematic case of Auschwitz, which was liberated 80 years ago today by the heroic Red Army, the physical and spiritual extermination of Jews, communists, Soviet prisoners and all those held there was planned and organized in every way.
The great epopee of the Soviet Union put an end to these crimes and atrocities, revealed to all peoples the true nature of these hellholes! No matter how much they try to equate the perpetrator and the victim, as with the recent despicable resolution of the European Parliament, the peoples of Europe and the world do not forget the enormous contribution of the Soviet people with over 20 million dead. They do not forget the decisive contribution of the communists in crushing the Nazi monster! After all, the Red Flag with the hammer and sickle was nailed to its "heart", in the Reichstag, as an eternal reminder!
Today, honor to the victims of Auschwitz means the strengthening of the struggle against the factors that led to the Nazi atrocity, against the crimes that the imperialists are still carrying out today with the peoples as victims. The stance of every person who is outraged by barbarity is next to the peoples who are victims of imperialist designs and antagonisms, such as the Palestinian people. The solidarity that is manifested throughout the world towards the Palestinian people and the condemnation of the state of Israel, including by thousands of Jews, has nothing to do with "anti-Semitism".
We continue the fight against the factors that led to the Nazi atrocity, the fight against the system that gives birth to fascism - Nazism, as evidenced by the Nazi salutes of big capitalists who are actively involved in politics, we express our solidarity with the peoples who are fighting for their freedom against all forms of oppressors and tyrants!
