In its condolence message (here in Greek) for the passing of the former President of the Committee of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) notes:
“On behalf of the KKE, we would like to express our condolences for the death of comrade Shahidullah Chowdhury, former President of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Bangladesh.

Comrade Chowdhury marked a long struggle in the trade union movement of Bangladesh, in the struggle for the rights and needs of the people of your country. During the period of overthrows in the USSR and the subsequent crisis in the International Communist Movement, he contributed to the defense of the Communist Party, the need for its existence and the strengthening of its struggle, against the divisive elements. He patiently endured persecution and imprisonment and emerged as a top Party official, a recognizable leader.
We kindly request you to convey our heartfelt condolences to the officials and members of the Bangladesh Communist Party, to the family and relatives of Comrade Shahidullah Chowdhury.”
