Hadash rejects Trump-Netanyahu plans on forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza

US President Donald Trump doubles down on his desire for forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt.

Trump tells reporters Monday, Jan 27 aboard Air Force One, “When you look at the Gaza Strip, it’s been hell for so many years… There have been various civilizations on that strip. It didn’t start here. It started thousands of years before, and there’s always been violence associated with it. You could get people living in areas that are a lot safer and maybe a lot better and maybe a lot more comfortable”.

Asked if this stance means he no longer believes in a two-state solution, Trump avoids answering directly, saying he’ll be discussing the issue with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he comes to Washington to meet him “in the not-so-distant future.”

Both Palestine Authority, Egypt and Jordan have come out strongly against Trump’s force displacement idea, saying that Palestinians should be allowed to remain in Gaza, where members of Israel’s far-right government have been calling to reestablish settlements while advocating for the “voluntary migration” of Palestinians from the enclave.

In addition, Hadash rejected Trump’s Forced Displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. According to MK Aida Touma-Sliman, “By proposing the mass expulsion of Gazans, Trump is realizing the settlers’ vision of ethnic cleansing. This is a catastrophic proposal and a war crime. It must be resisted by the entire international community – especially by the Arab regimes that are floated as destinations for transfer.” “Trump doesn’t understand that a people that survived 470 days of destruction on their land will not surrender to transfer. Gaza is Palestinian, and it must be reconstructed by and for its people. The return home in northern Gaza of tens of thousands of Palestinians is the real answer to Trump wishes.” MK Ofer Cassif (Hadash), added, “This tramp thinks he can (set) fire an entire people. Not gonna happen! We, Jews and Arabs together, won’t allow another Nakba!”

Also, the Fatah Central Committee unequivocally reaffirmed its rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land, which the international community has consistently recognized as their rightful territory for establishing a state.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Central Committee emphasized that achieving a lasting and just peace can only be realized by implementing the two-state solution, ending the occupation and establishing the Palestinian state, which would ultimately contribute to peace for all neighboring countries and the world. The committee also expressed concerns regarding recent decisions to lift sanctions on Israeli colonists and approve new shipments of U.S. munitions to Israel. It warned that such measures would only exacerbate the conflict rather than resolving it, redirecting resources and efforts away from the pursuit of peace.
