European Parliament prohibits the organization of exhibition for Cuba's internationalist solidarity!

In an utterly shameful and unjustifiable decision, the European Parliament prohibits the organization of the an exhibition dedicated to the internationalist solidarity of Cuba's medical brigades.

More specifically, the Europarliament Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) strongly denounces the decision of the European Parliament not to grant permission for the organization of an exhibition titled “Cuba and the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigades: an example of internationalist solidarity”.

“In its decision, the European Parliament provocatively claims that the content of the exhibition is “offensive, inflammatory and contrary to the founding values of the Union or may provoke reactions”. Of course, this is a decision of expedience, completely unsubstantiated. How can it be documented that an exhibition for internationalist solidarity, for the mutual aid among peoples in the face of emergency situations of pandemics or natural disasters, to which Cuba and the International Medical Brigades have contributed for 20 years and have even been awarded for it by international organizations such as the WHO, is considered “offensive” or “inflammatory””, a KKE statement reads.

The KKE, among others, point out: “What really bothers them and makes them losing their temper is that the peoples of the world and Europe do not adopt the Euro-Atlantic sermons, that they militantly support Cuba, despite the dozens of resolutions of the European Parliament against it. They have condemned the EU's attempt, together with the US, to intervene in Cuba's internal affairs, by including it in the unacceptable "list of countries that support terrorism" and supporting all kinds of counter-revolutionary elements under the pretext of so-called "human rights". They have condemned the criminal blockade of the US and its allies, which aims to damage the conquests of the Revolution, such as the public and universal health system, of which the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigades are also a part”.

Despite the reaction of the European Parliament, the KKE Europarliament Group will proceed to the implementation of the exhibition in collaboration with the Embassy of Cuba in Belgium. The exhibition, which highlights the achievements of the Henry Reeve Medical Brigade in its 20th founding anniversary, is organized from 13 to 16 January 2025 at W:Hall, 93 Avenue Charles Thielemans in Brussels.
