Cypriot communists: Cyprus must stop facilitating the murderous plans of the Israeli Government

In a recent statement (here in Greek), the Communist Initiative of Cyprus (Κομμουνιστική Πρωτοβουλία Κύπρου - Kıbrıs Komünist İnisiyatifi) denounces the facilitation provided by the government to the Israeli state and warns about the grave dangers that the island's deepening involvement in the Gaza massacre poses for the Cypriot people:

Israel's former ambassador to Cyprus, Mr Harari, stated recently that “Cyprus is being dragged into the regional conflict” due to the strategic relations it has developed with Israel. The Medium which hosted the former ambassador's interview reveals that, among other things, special forces of the Israeli army perform drills in Cypriot territory.

The Communist Initiative calls on the government to immediately inform the people and comment on these statements. The government must stop involving Cyprus in Israel's genocidal operation by apparently providing land and water, not only to Israelis but also in its major imperialist allies, such as the U.S government.

The Communist Initiative also denounces the hypocritical stance of the European Union which not only doesn't condemn and impose sanctions on Israel but, on the contrary, it supports it in various ways.

The Communist Initiative of Cyprus calls on the Cypriot people to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people struggling against oppression who, like the people of Cyprus, suffer from a bloody occupation. The Cypriot people must condemn the militaristic state of Israel and support the anti-imperialist forces of the country and of the surrounding states who are fighting with every means to defend human life and dignity, in the name of peace and justice. To stand up against the use of Cyprus by the imperialist forces as a military and espionage base, something that is not only unacceptable but also puts Cyprus in the eye of the storm.

The Communist Initiative of Cyprus calls the people to express their discontent, to stop tolerating the slavish use of Cyprus by foreign “patrons”, with the open or tacit consent of the political parties.
