Secretary Koutsoumbas stressed the KKE's determination to send a resounding, hopeful message of unwavering struggle, by increasing the party's percentages in the upcoming European elections on Sunday 9 June.
"From the center of Athens, we join voices with the workers of Greece who watch with disgust the spectacle of recording of millions of properties and shares while they count every last euro to make ends meet. We join voices with all the people of Europe who have taken to the streets in the struggle against the policies of the EU and their governments," said Koutsoumbas, adding: “This is our Europe. With the people who are fighting. We will become their voice in the next European Parliament."
Dimitris Koutsoumbas further highlighted the significance of Sunday's European election, asserting, "At the ballot box, we bolster the sole formidable opposition to the New Democracy government, the unpopular EU, and its parties. We strengthen KKE."
Interventions at the rally were made by KKE candidates MEPs Panagiotis Politis, Ioanna Kolovou, Panagiotis Alopoudis, as well as by Palestinian student Ahmad Sicha. During the event, a huge banner in solidarity of the Palestinian people was unfolded the center of the square.
