In a statement following the U.S- British air strikes against Houthis in Yemen, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) warns about the risks of a generalized war. More specifically, the statement (here in Greek) reads:
"The KKE condemns the US and British missile attacks on Yemen which multiply the risks of generalizing the war in the region, with the involvement of other powers, such as Iran.
The goal of the US-NATO forces is not to protect shipping from the attacks of the Houthi rebels, as they claim, but to control this strategically important area, within the context of imperialist rivalries and to support the occupier state of Israel that is slaughtering the Palestinian people.
The KKE demands the immediate cancellation of the Greek government's decision for the participation of a Greek warship in the Red Sea as part of the "welfare guard" imperialist fleet for the interests of the shipowners, as well as any kind of involvement of the Greek armed forces in missions outside the borders, the termination of the genocide of the Palestinian people and the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories which is the source of the explosive situation in the Middle East".
