The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) denounced on Monday that the government of President Nicolás Maduro negotiates with the US administration while the Venezuelan people bear the burden of unilateral coercive measures.

"Deputy José Gregorio Vielma Mora hides less and less his servile character to interests alien to the aspirations and needs of the Venezuelan people, but now he pretends to disguise it with pitiful language", said Neirlay Andrade, member of the Political Bureau of the PCV.
The leader maintained that "the salaries and wages have been liquidated precisely because of the policy that this Government carries out and that figures such as José Gregorio Vielma Mora defend to the hilt".
"Of course, in this story of condescension there is no lack of direct allusion to the unilateral coercive measures that imperialism maintains against our people", she added.
Andrade pointed out the use made by the government leadership to justify its political actions while the working family pays the consequences.
"The so-called sanctions - widely denounced by the Communist Party of Venezuela - do have repercussions on the living conditions of the Venezuelan working family, but not on the pockets of the PSUV leadership, made up of enriched sectors linked to corruption cases", she explained.
The member of the Political Bureau recalled that every now and then a figure of the ministerial train "leaves the leadership of the governing party or is transferred to some other position as a consolation prize, until he finally disappears from the public scene, as is the case of [former PSUV Oil Minister connected to a massive corruption probe] Tareck El Aissami, responsible together with his predecessors for the cases of corruption and bankruptcy of the Venezuelan oil industry".

The PCV affirmed that both these negotiations with the United States as well as those it maintains "with right-wing political organizations, traditionally associated with the oligarchy or the bourgeoisie and even that that has participated in coup events, configure a scenario that is more and more patent, more and more clear, of a new pact between elites".
"This new pact between elites has very concrete examples," said Andrade, referring to the recent announcement of the creation of a large special economic zone in the east of the country for the supposed production of food.
"This is proof that there is no line of work aimed at the development of our own productive capacities, but rather a policy that seeks to turn our country into an enclave open to transnational capitals; an enclave of overexploitation, of plundering, of deregulation of labor relations and for this purpose the Government has created an unconstitutional legal framework adjusted to its interests", he said.
The PCV also warned about complaints made by workers of the core industries of eventual privatization processes in [state run iron, steal and mining firms] Sidor and Ferrominera.

Increase in persecution and criminalization of struggles
In the past few hours, alerts have been made public of possible detentions of activists of the union movement and of the journalistic guild.
"We make a national and international alert about these practices executed by the government of Nicolás Maduro against trade unionists, against social actors, against political activists that have no other objective than to prevent a regrouping of forces in our country to truly dispute power in favor of the oppressed majorities", said Andrade.
The leader recalled the cases of the Sidor workers Leonardo Azócar and Daniel Romero, who were kidnapped by the state and are being held under a process that violates the rule of law, after leading massive protests in the south of the country.
