In a statement concerning the Joint Declaration signed by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelenskyy in Athens, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stresses out:
“As much as Mr Mitsotakis hypocritically invokes the “international law”, he can't hide that actual aim of his government, which is the more active and deep involvement of our country in the imperialist war in Ukraine and in NATO plans in the region. Essentially, that is, the ND government feeds those factors that led both to the NATO-Russia conflict in Ukraine, as well as to the aggravation of the problems in the Balkan countries.

These dangerous aims are also served by the Mitsotakis-Zelensky Joint Declaration which, based on NATO guidelines, foresses the further supply of war material to the reactionary Zelesky government, the provision of “security guarantees”, the accession and integration of Ukraine into NATO, the transformation of Alexandroupolis and other regions of the country into military bases, thus implicating the people in dangerous adventures.
The hypocrisy of the Prime Minister's invocation of international law is also shown by the fact that the representative of Kosovo, a state-protectorate which is a product of flagrant violation of “international law”, also attended the meeting organized in Athens. Thus confirming that the imperialist alliances, as well as all Greek governments, tailor the international law according to their own interests.
Prime Minister himself revealed who will be benefited by the government's agreement, actually speaking as a “dealer” of sectors of the Greek capital which intend to participate in the “reconstruction” of Ukraine and in the energy businesses of the next day, in tough competition with other parts of large business interests of the Euro-Atlantic arc states”.
