Being by far the largest political gathering of all parties ahead of June 25th parliamentary elections, the pre-election rally of the KKE sent a resounding, hopeful message of unwavering struggle, for a 100% militant, popular opposition against the next anti-people government of New Democracy (ND) party.
The event was attended, among others, by KKE's candidate MPs in the region of Attica and members of the Central Committee. The rally opened with a song of solidarity towards the world's peoples, sending a special message of support to refugees and immigrants following the tragic shipwreck off Pylos a few days ago.
The opening speech was delivered by Kostadinka Kuneva, former MEP and candidate MP of the KKE in Athens 'A constituency.
Dimitris Koutsoumbas, the Party's General Secretary delivered the major speech, calling for the strengthening of the KKE in the upcoming elections (Abstracts of his speech will be published soon),
The Communist Party's pre-election campaign will conclude on Friday 23 June with a political rally in Greece's second largest city, Thessaloniki.
It is reminded that on May 21 elections, the KKE saw a significant rise in its electoral power, winning 7.23%, 425,000 votes and 26 MPs. In a statement the Central Committee had assessed these results calling for the further strengthening of the Party in the new elections on June 25.
