Paying tribute to all those heroes of the class struggle, the Central Committee of the KKE unveiled a monument created by sculptor Antonis Myrodias.
“The sacrifices and actions of our comrades is our own heritage, its their testament towards all of us that was never opened, because they never died” underlined Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the KKE, during his keynote speech.
The memorial which was unveiled bears the following words by the CC of the KKE: “Anafi, a glorious island. From 1924 to 1943 and from 1946 to 1949, hundreds of pioneer fighters of the people, members, cadres and supporters of the KKE lived here in exile, due to their ideas and struggles. We honor their sacrifice, their valor, their unyielding stance. June 2022”.
Except from Dimitris Koutsoumbas, greeting speeches were delivered by Roula Fragkakou, member of the Sectoral Committee of South Cyclades of the KKE, and Iakovos Roussos, mayor of Anafi, while the event included a cultural programme with songs and narration of memoirs written by exiled fighters.
