Who is Nguyen Phu Trong
Born in Hanoi in 14 April 1944, son of poor peasants, Nguyen Phu Trong is the General Secretary of the Communist Party since 19 January 2011.
Nguyen is also the President of Vietnam, de jure head of state of Vietnam, in office since 23 October 2018.
He has graduated from the Philology Faculty of the University of Hanoi (now the Vietnam National University) and holds a PhD in Politics. Nguyen Phu Trong is a party member since December 1967.
