The Central Committee of Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has awarded Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece, with TKP Mustafa Suphi Friendship Award on the 100th anniversary of TKP's foundation.
As soL news reports, TKP announced the award with a letter written by the Central Committee. The letter is as follows:
Dear comrades,
First of all, we wish all comrades good health and power to continue to struggle in these hard times.
As you know, 10 September 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of our Party’s foundation. Communist Party of Turkey was founded by Comrade Mustafa Suphi and the other founding cadres. Their aim was to organize the struggle for working-class power in Turkey and shoulder their responsibility within the anti-imperialist struggle for the liberation of the motherland. Tragically, they paid this with their lives, they were murdered by reactionaries who considered communism as a big danger.
The legacy of our founding comrades is still alive in our struggles.
Honouring their revolutionary lives and their legacy, from this year on, TKP Central Committee has taken the decision to award a distinguished comrade, a close friend of our Party, with TKP Mustafa Suphi Friendship Award.
The Central Committee of TKP has decided to present the Award this year to our esteemed Comrade Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece, for his contributions to our struggle, deep-rooted friendship and revolutionary solidarity.
We hope this Award will further strengthen the historical ties between our Parties and peoples.
With comradely greetings,
Communist Party of Turkey
Central Committee.
