A speech by the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas on Saturday evening marked the end of the three-day events of the 45th KNE-Odigitis festival in Athens.
In a awe-inspiring political gathering, which attracted thousands of people of every age, Koutsoumbas sent a message of political resistance and counterattack, stressing out that "with our struggles, our dreams, our power, we can build a free world, open and full of hope, socialism".
"Every young man and woman who feels aversion towards today's barbarity has a position in our fight, staring at change, the new society that we need" pointed out the KKE General Secretary who also refered to the 45 years of history of the KNE-Odigitis festival.
Furthermore, during his speech, Koutsoumbas made extensive reference to the political developments in Greece and the world, stressing out that the KKE firmly believes that "the rising force of our times, the working class, with her movement, can lead social progress, the passing from the old way of production and organization of society, capitalism, into the new socialist-communist one".
A greeting speech was also delivered by the Secretary of the CC of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) Nikos Abatielos.
The three-day events at Tritsis Park in Athens was the peak of a series of events all over thr country, within the framework of the KNE-Odigitis festival. The festival included numerous political and cultural activities, including music concerts by popular artists, theatrical performances, book presentations, stand up comedy, various exchibitions and sports events.
At least 38 communist youth organizations from around the world participated, having their own place at the festival's "international city".

Among the foreign representatives who attended the event were the ambassadors of Cuba, Venezuela and Palestine, as well as the militant mayor of the Turkish city of Dersim - elected with the list of the Communist Party of Turkey - Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu.
