On the occasion of the Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis' visit in Thessaloniki, for the inauguration of the city's 84th International Fair on Saturday 7 September, the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) has issued a call for a mass workers' rally.
In a statement, PAME calls the trade unions, the workers, the youth to participate in a demonstration which has been scheduled to take place at Aristotelous Square at 6 pm local hour.
A delegation of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), headed by General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas, will attend the demonstration.

As the statement points out "the New Democracy government began to implement and deepen even more the attack against the workers' social security rights, following the steps of SYRIZA's anti-workers legacy. The measures that have already been announced and those that will be presented at the International Fair, will deteriorate even more the lives of the working people. The anti-worker amendments that the government brought in Parliament during summer, one for contract workers and the other for layoffs, as well as their plans to strike a new blow to collective organization and struggle, consist the first interventions in workers' and social security rights, something that leaves no doubt as to what the sequel will be".
PAME points out that the conservative ND government "wants to quickly finish with the remaining rights that had been preserved through hard struggles during the crisis and to complete the jungle labour status, so that big employers will have absolute freedom to squeeze the workers without obstacles".
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled to attend the inauguration ceremony of the International Trade Fair and will deliver the annual speech in which he is expected to announce his policy plans for the next period.
