Speaking at Greece's Parliament during the new government's policy statements and discussion over confidence vote, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas unleashed a political attack against both the newly-elected conservative government of New Democracy (ND), as well as against the social democratic major opposition of SYRIZA.
Regarding New Democracy's government policy statements, Koutsoumbas said that these were already known from the pre-electoral period, adding that even the EU Commission had prepared her recommendations for Greece even before the formation of the government on July 8th.
The KKE General Secretary pointed out that the new government will face no major difficulties in passing its anti-people policy, as long as it has the parliamentary majority, but also because "SYRIZA, like the other bourgeois parties, support the post-memorandum commitments" and "put forward the known fairytale that social prosperity will come through the strengthening of the big capital's profits".
Attacking both the government, as well as SYRIZA and the other bourgeois political forces, Dimitris Koutsoumbas said: "Together you are trying to hide that your common goal is to make the country "more friendly to enterpreneurship", something that equals to policies and measures that squeeze the working people, increase exploitation, sacrifice social needs, deduct public income in order to richly fund domestic and foreign business groups".
"But, unfortunately for you", stressed Secretary Koutsoumbas, "the KKE and the workers-people's movement exists and stands against you. The power of people's opposition which struggles daily against antipopular measures will be strengthened even further".
Regarding the new policy announcements of Mitsotakis' government, Dimitris Koutsoumbas said that "they utilize the whole anti-people arsenal which was supplied by SYRIZA" and "confirm that the anti-people attack will escalate", pointing out the example of the governmental tax programme.
In his closing remarks, the General Secretary underlined that the KKE will not provide any confidence vote to the ND government. "We vote against another anti-people government, one of the many that our people has known these years", he said.
