In a press conference earlier today, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas announced the names of the candidates included in the Party's nationwide electoral list ("epikrateias") for the July 7th general elections.
As we presented in a previous article, the head of the list is the former General Secretary of the KKE, a long-time member of the Central Committee and current MP, Aleka Papariga.
1. ALEKA PAPARIGA - Former General Secretary, member of the Central Committee and MP.
2. MAKIS PAPADOPOULOS - Member of the Political Bureau, head of the Ideology and Economy Section of the Central Committee.
3. GEORGIOS ROIDIS - Vice Admiral (Ret.) of the Hellenic Navy, former President of the Hellenic Defense Systems (EAS).
4. ERI (ELEFTHERIA) RITSOU - Novelist and writer. She is the daughter of the renowned Greek communist poet Yannis Ritsos.
5. GEORGI POMASKI - Former athlete, national coach in Athletics.
6. STAVROS TASSOS - Seismologist, MP and President of the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE).
7. KONSTANTINOS PAPASOTIRIOU - Merchant, cadre of the Communist Youth in 1970-80s.
8. PARASKEVI DAGKA - Member of the Central Committee, head of the Womens' Equality Section of the Central Committee.
9. NIKOLAOS MAVROKEFALOS - Member of the Central Committee, member of the Executive Board of the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME).
10. AFRODITI RETZIOU - Psychiatrist at Thriasion Hospital of Elefsina, President of the Federation of Hospital Doctors of Greece (OENGE).
11. LOUIZA RAZOU - Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Attica Party Organisation.
12. THANOS MIKROUTSIKOS - Music composer.
