Speaking at the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday, during her confrontation with her Russian counterpart regarding the proposed resolution on Syria, the U.K. ambassador at the United Nations Karen Pierce decided it was the proper time and place to refer to... Karl Marx.
Responding to a comment by Russia's permanent representative at the U.N. Vassily Nebenzia, Mrs.Pierce launched the attack:
"With respect to Karl Marx, I think he must be turning in his grave to see what has become of his country… in its defense of the use of chemical weapons against the innocent.”
Apparently, Britain's ambassador at the United Nations thinks that Karl Marx was Russian! However, Marx had never ever visited Russia during his lifetime. He was born in 1818 in Trier, a town of the Lower Rhine province in the- then- Kingdom of Prussia.
