Thousands of working people, farmers, unemployed, pensioners and students participated in the large demonstration organised by the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) which took place in Thessaloniki, Greece, on Saturday evening. The rally was held on the occasion of the inauguration, by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, of the city's International Trade Fair.
Representatives of Trade Unions and labor organisations delivered short greeting messages, while the major speech was given by the member of the executive committee of PAME and General Secretary of the Thessaloniki Labour Center Leonidas Stoltidis.
The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, attended the rally and made the following statement to the Press:
"The Greek people have been filled with fake promises, by the big words, by the mockery about the development which "will come". Nevertheless, development for Greek people means increase in the wages and pensions, increases in social benefits, means annulment of the ENFIA tax and the tax-related antipeople measures, means jobs for everyone, cancellation of the memorandums and all the anti-people, anti-worker measures which brought these memorandums.
This way, this way out for the development for the benefit of our people is what the KKE is proposing. This rally of PAME, of the other class trade unions, of the poor farmers and the self-employed people, of youth, women and people's families, here in Thessaloniki, like every year, is only the beginning. New large militant mobilizations will come.
The KKE will give all its powers towards this direction, so that the Greek people will be finally relieved after ten years of continuous economic crisis and barbaric memorandums". (Source: 902.gr).
The demonstration was followed by a march in the central streets of Thessaloniki.
