The solidarity movement for the communist Mayor of Greece's third largest city is growing. Kostas Peletidis, the KKE-backed Mayor of Patras, is being litigated by the Ministry of Justice's Public Administration Body of Inspectors for refusing to provide public space to the neo-Nazi, fascist party of Golden Dawn.
More specifically, Peletidis has been charged with "breach of duty", because during the 2015 parliamentary elections he refused to provide municipal space for the gatherings of the neo-Nazis. Furthermore, the mayor refused to provide information to Golden Dawn's MPs about the number of migrant children attending Patras' municipal kindergartens.
The trial has been scheduled to take place today, Monday 13th of February 2017.
Numerous city councils, labor unions and workers' associations, as well as various personalities have already expressed their solidarity with the Mayor of Patras.
The Patras Sectoral Organisation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a statement about the persecution of Mayor Peletidis, calling the working people and the popular strata of the city to mobilize and express their solidarity with the Mayor. In the statement, the KKE Patras S.O. strongly denounces the SYRIZA-ANEL government for showing tolerance towards the neo-Nazi criminals of Golden Dawn. It is characteristic that last December, MPs from SYRIZA and ANEL (Independent Greeks) had been photographed side by side with two Golden Dawn's MPs in Kastelorizo island during a Parliament delegation's visit.
The SYRIZA-ANEL coalition government, as well as the mechanisms of the bourgeois state, have been exposed for their hypocritical tolerance towards the neo-Nazi party of Golden Dawn - especially when the criminal character of Golden Dawn is known and proved. Let us remind our readers that Golden Dawn has been accused for numerous murderous attacks against immigrants and trade-unionists, while members of the neo-Nazi, fascist party bear direct responsibility for the murder of 34 years musician old Pavlos Fyssas in 2013.
