Thousands of protesters took the streets in Athens, Thessaloniki and several cities in Greece, participating in militant demonstrations organised by the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME).
Workers, self-employed people, pensioners, youth and women associations, unemployed men and women unified their voice against the antipeople policy of the SYRIZA-ANEL government, the EU and the Capital. They demanded, once again, their rights in labour and life against modern slavery.
The General Secretary of the CC of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas, who attended the demonstration in Athens' Omonia Square, made the following statement to journalists:
"The negotiation of the government for the second evaluation, for the debt, the new antipeople budget which is under discussion these days at the Parliament consist a "slap" for the workers, for our people. The government, alongside the EU, the ECB and the IMF talks and celebrates for the recovery of the economy; but this recovery will be only for the few, for the big capital. Our people, the working class will suffer, will be the beasts of burden, with intensification of the exploitation, "squeezing" of income and pensions, with new tax burdens, with lasting memorandums. This is the proposal of the SYRIZA-ANEL government, this is the proposal which actually the other opposition parties accept.
The solution lies in the political proposal proposed by the class-based labour movement, the social alliance, the radical rallies, the KKE. In order to have a real development in favor of the popular needs, in favor of the working people, of our people. This is the proposal all of us are called to spread in the next period, being ready with lasting struggles, continuous ones, from all bastions".
